During the last MWC,
Samsung released its latest mobile devices: Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge: “two of the most beautiful
smartphones ever created”.
After a difficult quarter for Samsung’s mobile division,
they answered with those two 5.1 inch smartphones, equipped with a 64-bit
Exynos chipset with 14nm architecture, Octa-Core CPU (Quad 2.1GHz + Quad
1.5GHz), and 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
Samsung used two powerful cameras for their new heroes: a
16MP primary camera capable of 4k video capture, and a 5MP frontal camera, both
having an f/1.9 aperture and LED flash.
Among the usual LTE, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
wireless, v4.1 Bluetooth, NFC, IR and microUSB 2.0, Samsung also introduced WPC
and PMA wireless charging support, and as an answer to Apple, they introduced
the fingerprint reader home button and also released the Samsung Pay, which
allows for both NFC-based and magnetic secure transmission (MST) payments.
Both smartphones have a Super AMOLED
5.1 inches capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and a 1440x2560 pixels
displays, protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4. But, despite S6, S6
Edge has a curved edge screen, producing a 2.5D effect.
With the non-removable batteries Li-Ion
batteries (2550mAh for S6 and 2600mAh for S6 Edge), Samsung used back and front
metal cases covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
To make them even more appealing,
Samsung released the devices in 4 colors each:
