Anonymous Hackers Take Credit for HSBC Bank Website Disruptions

In an interesting turn of events, an Anonymous-affiliated hacker collective has taken credit for the cyberattacks that disrupted several websites owned by HSBC Holdings.   Initially, everyone believed that the distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks were launched by Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters, but hackers part of Fawkes Security have claimed credit for the operation. “As some of you may be aware HSBC bank suffered several DDoS attacks on the named sites in the past hours. us.hsbc.com, hsbc.co.uk, hsbc.com, hsbc.ca they were all brought down by #FawkesSecurity,” they wrote on Pastebin . According to the hackers, the proof that they’re responsible for downing the websites is available on their Twitter account.  The tweets they’re referring to indicate the precise time and the domains affected by the attacks.
