IBM Research Website Hacked and Defaced by KHS

The official IBM Research website (researcher.ibm.com), a domain dedicated to projects and publications, has been taken offline after a group called Kosova Hacker Security (KHS) has managed to breach and deface it. The Hacker News has caught a glimpse of the defaced website and reports that the members of KHS have leveraged SQL Injection and remote code execution vulnerabilities to penetrate the site’s defenses. “KHS ownZ this b0x! ~ nobody will stop us!” the hackers wrote on the affected webpage. Other than that, they didn’t state their reasons for targeting IBM, although it may be possible that this was a way to show off their skills. At press time, the site was still down, most likely with its administrators trying to figure out what allowed the hackers to gain access. Source: @EduardKovacs | softpedia

@Turkguvenligi hacking group defaces UPS, TheRegister, Acer, Telegraph, Vodafone

It appears that the turkish attackers managed to hack into the DNS panel of NetNames using an SQL injection and modify the configuration of arbitrary sites, to use their own DNS (ns 1 .yumurtakabugu.com and ns 2 .yumurtakabugu.com) and redirect those websites to a defaced page. In the past, TurkguvenLigi.info defaced secunia.com, HSBC Korea and the registry Directi with this method.
